Gorik Ooms, Lic.Jur, PhD, is a post-doctoral researcher in the Public Health Department of the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp. Since 2010, he has also been an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University. For most of his professional career, he worked with Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium, of which he was the executive director between 2004 and 2008. Gorik received his law degree from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, in 1989, and his PhD in medical sciences from the University of Ghent, Belgium, in 2008.
