Thorkild Tylleskär is a paediatrician and professor of international health at Bergen University, Norway. His focus is on nutritional disorders in low-income countries. He has a degree in African linguistics from Sorbonne and a thesis on the phonology of the kisakata language, spoken in Congo. He subsequently took a medical degree in Uppsala, where he also defended his PhD thesis on the aetiology of the paralytic disease, konzo.
