John Porter, MBBS , MD, MPH, is a professor of international health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He trained in paediatrics before studying international public health in the UK and United States. His research work focuses on the control of infectious diseases, particularly TB, HIV, and leprosy, and he uses this perspective to gain access to themes around health systems, policy, and ethics. He has been teaching a course on ethics, public health, and human rights at the London School for the past ten years and is seeking to find novel ways of teaching ethics.
